Since I associated the dev room with the easy ending, I assumed the briefcase puzzle must have been for something else.6. It makes sense, though, that most people would just go back to a save, and the only way they would find the dev room is via the briefcase puzzle. I found the dev room right after taking the easy ending, and I thought that was where people were meant to find it. Nothing was different, but I did notice the (pretty darn obvious) environmental puzzle that the newly closed gate contained. After beating the game the first time, I did some exploring once everything was reset, since I figured maybe something was different in the game world. This is pretty darn confusing!įinal Edit: Well, I think it all makes sense now. I'm unsure if this is a really deep secret, or if this was just an attempt by the devs to get players who finished the caves to find the Dev Room if they hadn't already. I went back and tried entering other codes to see if this behavior was out of the ordinary, yet only the code from the briefcase puzzle reactivated the grid. I thought maybe the Dev Room would be different this time, but I couldn't find any differences. Turns out, entering the code turned the grid back on. I then tried entering the code on the save file where I'd finished the caves, where I already disabled the grid. I entered it without ever first disabling the white grid. Any ideas?Įdit 2: The first time I tried entering the code on the orange panel was in a new game. I really thought I'd found the answer, but when I tried entering the solution to the puzzle into the orange panel, but it didn't do anything special. Could anyone let me know what this briefcase puzzle is for?Įdit: So, as I was entering the Dev Room again, I noticed that the orange panel that opens the big white gate at the beginning of the game is actually the same staggered shape as the one in the briefcase puzzle. Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong places. I haven't been able to find a shred of evidence about this, either in game or out of game. I included pictures of those puzzle sheets as well. The only other time I've seen a staggered puzzle drawn on a sheet of paper like this was in the "Dev Room" area you can get to from the very beginning of the game. This imgur post has a picture of the room in which I found the briefcase, as well as the puzzle itself. Inside was a weirdly staggered triangle puzzle. There's a door you can unlock to get to the video playing room from the caves, and near this door I found another briefcase like the ones used to give codes for the video room. So, after finishing The Challenge, I went about unlocking all of the doors to the caves.
